Running Aces Applauds Approval of
On-Track Advance Deposit Wagering on Historic Horse Racing
MRC Approves ADW/HHR by Overwhelming 5-1 Vote

COLUMBUS, Minn.– Running Aces CEO Taro Ito released the following statement following the Minnesota Racing Commission’s decision to approve its application for On-Track Advance Deposit Wagering on Historic Horse Racing, (ADW/HHR), at the state’s two Class A racetracks during last night’s special full Commission meeting.  The MRC approved ADW/HHR with a 5-1 vote, which will take effect on May 21, 2024.

“Running Aces is very pleased that the Minnesota Racing Commission approved our application, providing the state’s horse racing industry a lifeline for survival.

At a time when so many of the state’s politicians are pushing to exclude the horse racing industry from any meaningful benefit from sports betting legislation, ADW/HHR will enhance the tracks’ self-sufficiency, create new jobs and produce additional revenue for state and local governments without burdening taxpayers.

Minnesota’s horse racing industry employs thousands, generates an estimated $500 million economic benefit, predominantly in the agricultural sector, to the state annually. ADW/HHR positions the state’s two racetracks for future success by authorizing an additional source of revenue through pari-mutuel betting.

The state’s governing body of the horse racing industry has now clearly spoken. The MRC did its job to protect and save the horse racing industry. Politicians in St. Paul must respect and preserve their decision and allow the racetracks to survive.

Protect MN Horse Racing

Some politicians and special interest groups are pushing a bill in St. Paul that threatens the existence of Minnesota’s horse racing industry.

This bill would devastate Minnesota’s horse racing industry by taking aim at the state’s racetracks’ ability to operate on-track pari-mutuel gaming.

Minnesota’s horse racing industry employs thousands and generates an estimated $500 million economic benefit annually to the state, predominantly in the agriculture sector.

Let’s allow the courts to decide if pari-mutuel historical racing is legal under current law.
